Laura and Her Little House by Debbie Mascot

Laura Ingalls Wilder was on the John Edward's show Crossing Over last night. She brought Mr. Edwards and Pa with her. I was so excited to hear from them! I wonder why Percival didn't come through for her, though?

Little House on the Prairie was the best television show ever. The lessons were great. The stories were great. And who the heck cares if they showed mountains in Minnesota. It's the thought that counts. Laura was a lot how I was as a child, so that's probably why I like it. Only she was better at sports. And cuter. And more talented. Okay. She was a lot like how I WISHED I were as a child. Again, it's the thought that counts.

I am not at all a crying person. I don't cry at movies or commercials or really much of anything. But I cry for Little House. Some of those episodes were amazing tear-creators for me. Like the final one where they blow up MY Walnut Grove! What the heck?! That jerk can kiss my grits for finding that old document proving he's the actual owner of the town. I hated him.

Anyway, I'm wiping my tears away from just thinking about it again. Laura and Almanzo pushing down that dynamite thingy.. (shake it off, Debbie)... Okay. On to happier thoughts...

Marc took me to a Little House Reunion a few years ago. Come to find out, the show SAID it took place in Minnesota but was actually filmed in Hollywood. Okay. I can accept that. Many things that seem real are filmed in Hollywood. Like.Meet Me In St. Louis. Judy Garland didn't really go to St. Louis. I can handle this whole concept. The weird part is the Little House was also filmed in Sonora. I didn't even really know where Sonora was until we went for the reunion. And it's only a couple of hours from us.

Anyway, we went to the reunion and met people from the show. We met a bunch of them, including:
Nellie Oleson- she was the nicest person on the universe in real life- veeeeery discomforting
Eliza Jane- she was SUPPOSED to be plain and Old Maidy since she was the teacher, but she was pretty- also very discomforting
Ma- she was a little aloof. I wanted to throw myself into her arms and have her be Ma, but she was kinda scary running through the autograph line instead of sitting at the table- said it was faster
Both of the Carries- they were twins and a little annoying on the show. Shy in real life.
Dr. Hiram Baker- Oh, this was sad... He showed up in full Doc Baker costume. The show's been off the air for 20 some odd years... he's still appearing wearing the costume and he was selling a cd that he compiled with songs from the Little House time period... Sad...
Albert- Poor Albert grew up to be a jerk. That's all I have to say about Albert. He can kiss my grits, too, just like the jerk who took over the town. And to think I actually shed tears when he died on the show. (man, when they walked up the hill with all the children~shiver~...)
Michael Landon's real life daughter was also there. She played a teacher on the later shows. She was really sweet, but at the table next to Arogant Albert, so his jerkiness overpowered her sweetness. There were also a bunch of one-time appearance cowboys and stuff. Marc recognized someone from some Aliens from Outer Space movie or something. Almanzo and Laura were supposed to be there, but Almanzo got sick and we missed Laura by a day. I'm pretty sure she didn't come back for the second day because she was disgusted with her brother's behavior. Even if he was adopted, Ma and Pa taught him better than that.

Yes, my connection with reality is sometimes vague at best.
