Go for G

On the They Might Be Giants Here Come the ABCs DVD, they have a song called, "Go for G".  You can listen to the sampler of it here:
Amazon.com

The lyrics are:
GO GO GO GO for G
GO GO GO GO for G
You feel glorious, grateful, gleeful and glad
If you GO GO GO GO for G.

So in the car on the way home last night, Marc and I were talking and we suddenly hear Signa singing it.  But differently.

Here is Signa's version.

GO GO GO GO for cake
GO GO GO GO for cake
You feel gorious, gateful, gwleeful gwad
If you GO GO GO GO for cake.

GO GO GO GO for ice cream
GO GO GO GO for ice cream
You feel gorious, gateful, gwleeful gwad
If you GO GO GO GO for ice cream.

GO GO GO GO for pie
GO GO GO GO for pie
You feel gorious, gateful, gwleeful gwad
If you GO GO GO GO for pie.

Update from the Weekend

Thursday I was off to take care of Signa while Marc went to see Star Wars.  She was great all day, but I think sick.  And at night she COUGHED FOR HOURS.  So on Friday, Marc took her to the doctor.  I was just worried about the cough, as it's been a few weeks since her cold and it got worse instead of better.  She's fine, though.  We had to get a humidifier and some cough syrup (over the counter kind).  And we are to let her cough and be runny during the day, as it's good for her. So she's getting better now and darn it! I sleep SOO great with that humidifier!  I can't believe we didn't get one when I was having all those breathing problems in my pregnancy.

Anyway, Saturday morning we all got haircuts.  Signa cried and kept chanting, "I don't LIKE haircuts."  But once they gave her a lollipop (her first ever and will be used for bribery in the future) she did okay.  But she would not sit still and her bangs are majorly crooked and too short to cut more off of.  Oh well.  It will grow.  (Right?)

We then ran some errands and came home for a nap.   Baby Renee (my coworker's baby girl) came over Saturday night while her parents went to dinner.  She was an angel.  Renee just sat and grinned at Signa and at tv and at everything until 10:30 at night.  She took a 15 min. nap and when she woke, she cried a bit, but just until we got her situated.

Sunday we went out to breakfast and Signa declared as we were leaving in the line of people waiting to get in, "I LOVE LOVE *LOVE* THIS RESTAURANT!" Then she went on about pancakes (International House of Pancakes)- she barely even ate. But she LOVE LOVE LOVES that restaurant, I guess.

Ran more errands and then just did nothing the rest of the day.  Made cupcakes and a big mess, but that's about all.

Signa now climbs on her stepstool in the kitchen to "help" with lunch and dinner preparations. She is so cute. So so cute. Mondays are hard to be without her. The hardest day because I get used to her over the weekend. Then she's just not with me.

Oh well. Mondays are easier when she is bratty on the weekend and I'm sure that time is coming soon.

So Much to Say

So many things to write about.

Last week, my cousin Jennifer (Mom's niece) came from New York with her husband for vacation. We met her at Mom's on Monday night. The last time I saw her was before they moved to Florida, so 20 years ago. Her half-brother, Steve, came with his family, too. Steve lives in my area and it was so great to meet him (although apparently we met before). His little girls were so great with Signa. She is still talking about them. I hope we can stay in touch and be cousins like my other cousins.

I can't recall anything else monumental in our schedules except that this past Saturday (5/14) we went to the Oakland zoo. We checked out the animals and then it was Celebrate Elephants Day, so we took a tour of the elephant barn at noon. Met an elephant named Donna and watched her get her foot washed. Signa was cranky. It was noon. Outings are difficult with the napping thing, as she is cranky and monstery until she gets her second wind. I'm definitely glad we got a season pass, so that it doesn't feel like wasting money to stay only until 1:30pm. She had a great time, though. Wanted to go again Sunday. Her favorite animal there is surprisingly not the elephant, or the tiger, but the giraffe. Last time it was the pink flamingos.

Sunday we just worked in the garage. It's literally jammed full of crap. Years' worth of crap. So we are slowly consolidating in plastic bins and throwing stuff away. We let Signa go without a diaper while we were out there and she showed everyone in the neighborhood her Care Bear big kid underpants. But I really don't think she can tell yet that it's GOING to come out. Just when it does. She always looks surprised when it happens on the toilet.

Last week I got a Dr. Sears potty book, so we read it that night and she was all excited about the potty (and the baby having some boobies in the beginning of the book). So that morning we went potty first thing and read the book while she sat there. Then we made a big production about big girl underpants (the kind with vinyl, though) and she put them on and danced around singing, "I'm a pretty ballerina!" (because anything with pink or flowers is clearly ballerina).

Then she got The Look and said, "Pee Pee makes me feel happy." Yep. First thing. Peed in the big girl underpants. So she's just not ready. I truly don't think she can recognize BEFORE she goes yet.

And as long as we are talking about pee pee and poop, Marc called me today to tell me that Signa made him gag. After 2 1/2 years of changing diapers, it finally got to him. Well, what got to him was Signa. He took off the dirty (poop) diaper and cleaned her up. While lying there, Signa said, "I could look at the big poop?" So Marc showed it to her. "I could eat it?"

That's when he gagged. And called me to share. Ick. Last week she annonced that she made a "Star Wars Poop", whatever that is.

And now for miscellaneous Signa-ISMS:

Cheery
Looking through pictures of herself, Signa announced, "Look at those cheery eyes!" Gee, do you think we say that a lot?

Rainbrellas
They are no longer called, "Umbrellas." They are heretofore referred to as, "Rainbrellas," which really does make a lot more sense.

My Pleasure
At the park, she let another kid play with a ball. When he gave it back and thanked her, Signa said, "My pleasure!" From a 2-and-a-half-year-old.

Ronald McDonald
Singing: "Ronald McDonald had a farm EEEEEEE OOOOOOO!!" There are only pigs on Ronald McDonald's farm.

Boobies
We stopped nursing last Friday (5/6) and every night she cries for Boobies in the Bed. I inform her that they are empty and she stops crying. Eventually. The first night, though, she said, "Go to the store and get new milk?" I guess she understood the explanation that it's a different kind of milk and that the boobies make it, not buy it, because the next night she said, "We could put apple juice in there! Good idea!" Then the next night, as I was putting on pjs, she said, "I could LOOK at the boobies! Ahhhh! Boobies are cute!" Flatterer.

Chuck E. Cheese
A few Saturdays ago, we went to Austin's baseball game. Afterward, we went to Chuck E. Cheese and then Round Table Pizza (um... Chuck E. Cheese was expensive AND yucky). Signa thought Chuck E. Cheese was better than even boobies. She now plays with her Fisher Price people and Star Wars figures. They go to Chuck E. Cheese and then eat cherries at Round Table Pizza (she got the game Hi Ho Cherry Oh and now everyone eats cherries).

Davie and Goliath
Marc and I always talk about Davie and Goliath and how they are scary. I took Signa to Walmart and they had a D&G coloring book. I told her that D&G are SCAREY. So then a few days later, she says to me, "Davey and Goliath not scarey! Momma's an idiot." Party tricks. You can teach her to say anything.
