We Will Rock You

Remember that Queen song, "We will we will rock you..." It's Signa's new favorite song. Today she asked Marc, "I don't know the words. Will you find the words? And the action figures?"

Where in the world can I find Queen action figures? Oh yeah. Ebay.

Holiday Season and Wish Lists

Holiday Events

Our holidays began with a trip to Nana and Papa's on December 18. Phil and my mom came with us and we left pretty early in the morning. We got there and there was a ton of appetizers- we ate most of them leaving just bare bones for the poor late-comers, Uncle Karl and Aunt Dee.

Dinner was lovely, with tons of leftovers. Sadly, though, we left them behind. I was so mad when I went to put lunch together for work on Monday morning and my ambrosia salad was MISSING!!! Anyway, it was delicious and we all ate more than we should have (luckily, Will was my excuse to have seconds! Okay... thirds!).

We also imbibed on way too many presents! Nana and Papa spoiled Signa with too much stuff and even Will, too, with homemade baby blankets! It was a wonderful day and we had a great time with the family.

On Christmas Eve, we went to Mom's/Auntie Leslie's for the annual Spencer Family Christmas. The kids were all hyperexcited for Christmas (as they should be) and had a great time running around. Signa and Melanie had nearly matching dresses, which was adorable. Signa was so polite with such great manners that she shocked even me.

After all the playtime and whatnot, we did gifts. We all raked it in there on Christmas Eve, too. Spoiled rotten- all of us!

Christmas morning, Signa got up and came to the living room to see her stocking and Darth Vader scooter from Santa. We also were overly excited and kept making her open gifts. She would have been happy playing with something for a half hour and then opening something else, but we kept shoving gifts at her. We realized it after and are going to let her do her own thing next year, but we just couldn't wait!

Throughout the day, people would come and more gifts would be exchanged. Now Signa thinks that whenever anyone comes over, there are presents. Too bad her birthday and Christmas are not further apart!

All in all, not only a good Christmas gift-wise, but a good one filled with lots of fun, family and friends for all of us.

-----

Tuesday night we went to a pajama party for Caden, one of Signa's friends from the park. Even the moms and dads went in pajamas! Marc came down with a cold and didn't want to spread it around, so Signa and I went. She didn't want to play with the kids much and preferred to just have me play with her on the train table. Not at all like her. I wondered if she was coming down with something, but Marc said that it was likely because he wasn't there. She's been weird about us doing things separately with her lately. So she had a good time, but she was a bit reserved for a lot of it.

Speaking of her reservations, lately she's been having a hard time with me going to work. I think because I've been taking so much vacation (to use it not lose it). Then the 5 days at Christmas. She keeps saying, "You could stay home wif me if you want to," and then tries to tell me all the fun we could have. I feel so horrible leaving her, but she's fine once I'm gone. And it's nice to get a nice greeting when I get home, too.

-----

No big plans this weekend, except to take down the Christmas decorations and to have a nice big turkey dinner for New Year's Eve. Bob and Scott are joining us and we are going to try not to let Signa monopolize them like she did on Christmas!

This has been such a boring week that I decided to look into all the things I want/need for William when he arrives. Of course I need clothes for him, since he'd look silly in most of Signa's! I really want some extravagant things this time, since I don't need the basics. We NEED a duo stroller and were thinking of the Graco Duo Glide. It got great reviews by a few people we've seen with them.

But then I WANT the stoller where Signa can sit or stand on the back. So that is a want.

I have a sling, but I WANT a new one that is solarveil material. Another want.

I NEED a new breast pump, but the Isis manual worked best for me last time. The expensive ones didn't work at all. However, I'm WANTING the new Isis iq Duo instead. That's a $350 want, rather than the $50 need. Ugh.

The baby will need a new exersaucer, as Signa's was boring and we gave it away. And then we need a cosleeper to attach to the bed so that we can all be together.

All told, for crying out loud we are looking at over a thousand dollars of want! I don't think so.. I think I'll go back and revisit my list. Some other day. For now it's kind of fun having it full of things that I want. Kind of like when I was a kid and the big Sears catalog would come. I love wish lists.

Drugs R Us

I had to go to Toys R Us for one thing. One specific thing. Let's call it a Thingamajig500TM. I parked 8 and a half miles from the store and hiked past scary construction workers (who didn't even give me a second look, thanks to William inhabiting me making me look even fatter than I really am). I walked in and decided that I needed help finding the very specific Thingamajig500TM.

"Excuse me. Can you tell me where the Thingamajig500sTMare?" I asked a young, maybe 16-year-old boy.

"Uh... we are prolly out of them or something." He was also on drugs that made him talk like Beavis and/or Butthead.

"Well, where would they be if you weren't out of them?" I asked nicely, reminding myself that I'd be on drugs, too, if I had to work at Toys R Us.

"Maybe on the Game Wall or something?"

"Could you show me, or something?" Not so nice.

He took me to the Game Wall and it was fully stocked with no spaces for anything sold out. "Maybe it would be here. But see? We're out of them."

"But if you were out of them, wouldn't you have a big space and then one of these stickers saying, 'Thingamajig500TM' and the price?"

"Uh. Maybe. Maybe they are on 12C. I saw them there once." He pointed to the very other side of the store.

"Thanks." I went to the other side of the store, which ended at row 11. I check 11C, just in case, which has Fisher Price toys for babies. Not Thingamajig500sTM. I went to find that drugged out kid again.

"Your store doesn't have a 12C."

"Huh?" He stared at me blankly.

"I am the one looking for the Thingamajig500TM and you said it was in 12C. There is no 12C. Your store ends on row 11, unless you want me to check the bathroom."

"Oh. Did you check 11C?"

"Yep. Not there."

"Then we are prolly out of them. Hey, JoeBob," he caught a passing fellow drugged out 16-year-old, "Do you know where the Thingamajig500sTM are?"

"I worked here last year and they didn't have them. I don't thing they have them." Drug Kid 2 wasn't any better. Especially when Drug Kid 1 agreed and said that he didn't think they had them in the store. I hesitated and then decided not to remind him that he saw them on 12C. Maybe 12C is some really cool place in Drug Land and I really didn't want him going there until I was sure he couldn't help.

So instead, I explained that just this past week, I saw a man at the counter buying a Thingamajig500TM so I know they have them. Or at least did.

Drug Kid 1 asked me if I asked that man where he found it.

Drug Kid 2 tells me that I should have bought one then.

Thanks. Thanks so much.

So, family, I'm so sorry, but unless Walmart or Target has one, you are not getting a Thingamajig500TM for Christmas.

What is New Kid?

UPDATED... UPDATED AGAIN FOR SIGNA STUFF...

Today we have THE ultrasound. And the baby is a (it's pretty obvious)...

New Kid

Isn't he beautiful?

New Kid

See the "U" shaped thing at the top of the pictures? Signa thought it was the baby smiling at her.

And in other news, I let Signa pick out Marc's Christmas present from her. She picked Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots and we bought it yesterday while Marc saw King Kong. I told her that it was a secret and she shouldn't tell Marc. So the first thing she did when she saw him was WHISPER "I got you Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots for Christmas." And now she's WHISPERED it several more times since. Afterall, WHISPERING is what secrets are all about.

Gramma's House

I didn't write about our wonderful Sunday. We went to Mom's for a kids' Christmas party, so that Signa and Austin could set up and decorate their small trees there. Melanie also joined the party and they did art projects, ate lunch, decorated their trees and then made ice cream mice. Signa had a great time and said, "I go to Gramma's EVERY day?"

Next year there will need to be another tree and some of the signage at Gramma's needs correcting to include New Kid. Who, by the way, we will know a bit better on FRIDAY after we see pictures and find out the parts he/she has.

Quick update

Not much new. I've just been getting ready for Christmas- soaping and baking like crazy. I'm so tired, because my mind runs a million miles an hour all night long. I would give anything for a cup of coffee this morning, but New Kid would just force it right out along with everything else that's in me. Tea just isn't the same, no matter what They say.

Friday is the day when we can FINALLY know what New Kid is. It's been really hard this time, as I'm really afraid of a boy! But I'm readying myself for hearing it. So much so that I wonder if I'll be sad if it's a girl! Oh I just can't win for winning!

Signa is doing fine. Helping me soap and bake in her own Signa way. Last night Marc took her to Target so that I could finish up some stuff and she came over to me with her boots and coat on and said, just like I say it, "Hmmm... Momma do you notice anything in my pocket?" And yes, there was a baby flamingo stuffed animal half hanging out. But she said it just like I do. It was really weird to hear.

Poor Rudolph

When we got all the decorations out for Christmas, we found the tacky plastic Santa with sleigh and reindeer that we always wonder why we keep. So we donated it to Signa, who plays with it daily.

Here is an email message from Marc to my work before I got here this morning:

"I guess one of the reindeer had a bent leg so I heard, 'Rudolph the red nose reindeer...this one had a broken leg.'"

Pictures

Pictures are up for November. Also, below is a note from last night about Ghostbusters. And then for more funny things from last night...

Marc told me that Signa makes her stuffed dogs kiss and lick her while making puppy noises in between ranting "NO! STOP THAT!" at them.

She laughed and pointed in Mervyn's last night and said, "Those ladies have no heads." (mannequins).

In Target, she said, "I can't find the bathroom" three times while we were in the toy section and we frantically looked for some bathroom toy she may have seen. But by the time we realized that she REALLY WANTED TO USE THE BATHROOM, it was too late. Who know she was, for the first time, really asking for a bathroom?

Ghostbusters II Kiss My Butt

While eating dinner, Marc put Ghostbusters II on. The scene:
Bill Murray's character (Peter Venkman) tries to talk to the mayor. The mayor's assistant intercepts and basically tells Peter to buzz off. As the assistant is walking away, Peter says, "Hey I'm a voter! Aren't you supposed to lie to me and kiss my butt?"

Signa's response?

"AH HA HA HA! He said, 'Kiss my butt!'"

Monday Update

I had Friday off work and we went to Caden's house for gingerbread house decorating with the great playgroup that adopted Marc and Signa. The kids (and moms) decorated the houses and chatted and had a wonderful time.

This weekend was our town's holiday event stuff. There was supposed to be snow in the fountain on Saturday, so we went home from dance class and got all warmed up with boots and mittens and even a coat (Signa usually refuses coats). She was so excited for the snow and then there wasn't any. They didn't find a sponsor for it, so it was cancelled. All weekend long, "Ahhhhh. There's no snow." And then pouting.

Saturday night was the holiday parade and tree lighting. It was fun to watch, but darned cold and crowded. Sunday we just hung around the house and did stuff for Christmas.

Also, we spent a lot of the weekend redecorating the Christmas tree. Why, oh why, didn't we wait until January to get a kitten??!?!?!

Today I had another dr appointment to check on my weight gain. 4 pounds, so the Ensure and Thanksgiving diet are working. Gotta keep it up and all else is fine. I discussed all my aches and pains and mostly my constant horrible fears and she made me listen to New Kid's heartbeat for an extra long time while telling me how absolutely fine everything was going. Except the weight, but she said that is no biggie to the baby- just to me.

The AFP test results didn't come back yet, but she said that usually it takes a couple weeks to get to her if everything is normal. They expedite for abnormalities. So hopefully all was well there, too. I don't need to go back for 4 weeks, unless the AFP or ultrasound on the 16th show anything odd. Which I hope hope hope they do not.

So all my fears are calmed. For today. Or at least this moment.
