Pet Shop
"I play Pet Shop on the computer?"
"Not right now."
"Pllllllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee."
"Not right now. I said, 'No,' Signa."
"I said, 'Yes!'"
"Do not talk like that to me. That is not polite. I said, 'No,' and I meant, 'No.'"
"I said, 'Yes!' and I meant, 'YES!'"
"Signa, no. Just no."
"Yes. Just yes."
"Let's find something else to do instead, okay?"
"Hey! I know!..." She pauses for excitement. "Let's play Pet Shop on the computer! Come on!"
She takes off running down the hall.

Right About Now
This is Signa's NEWEST phrase. "I'd like to play with Play-doh. Right. About. Now." "I'd like to throw up my cheese sandwich all over the backseat of the car. Right. About. Now." She didn't say this out loud, but she did act on it. Without permission.
Poor girl was stomach sick last week and we didn't even know it until after the Right About Now incident and put 2 and 2 together. She was acting bratty and stubborn all week and not eating (but happy for ice cream or any dessert, really). We hollered at her and took toys away and fought with her all week. Then she hurled and we realized she was probably sick all week. She spent Friday and part of Saturday acting sick, but by Sunday she was back to normal.

How Signa Wakes Up In the Mornings
Silence. All is quiet. I'm drinking my tea and reading my emails. All I hear is That Damn Cat literally climbing the bathroom wall. Suddenly, from nowhere, I hear jabbering from a 3-and-a-half year old. Not jabbering in her sleep. No. She's wide awake.
"I love the pet shop! Those fish eat other fish. I like the turtles. They are all named Gamera. Girls are not toucans. BOYS are toucans." And then she keeps going, but I can't write it all down fast enough.
Why does it take her 1.2 seconds to go from sound asleep to wide awake and it takes me 2.1 hours and 3 cups of caffeinated tea before I can even form a complete sentence?

Things I've Learned
First of all, Dad is doing just fine. He's home and has had stents put in and he's back to dialysis. He's not happy about any of it and doesn't feel much better, but at least he's doing what needs to be done. He sounded so good when I talked to him last night and so I'm hopeful that he'll keep doing what needs to be done.
Also, Baby Will is growing just fine. We had our 29 week appointment last week, but with a substitute doctor. She was much less laid-back than my doctor and talked about lots of scary things. But this was without looking at my records and before she examined me, so I'm going with my doctor who says that everything is fine and there is no reason to think we'll have an early birth.
Nana had a Big Birthday yesterday and Marc's family all joined her for a surprise lunch. We all had a great time and Signa was especially excited to sing to her Nana. Even though they didn't bring Aussie the dog.
Things I've Learned Lately:
Figures of speech are likely misinterpreted.
For instance, saying, "If that damn cat attacks my foot one more time, I'm going to kill him!" may get a crying response from a certain little person, "Don't kill him! He will be died!!!"
If you have the TV on for background noise, you will have your very own commercial-quoter
You may hear such things as, "Home Depot. You can do it. We can help," coming quietly from the backseat whenever you pass any Home Depot.
Using key phrases frequently will get such phrases entered into the preface and suffix of each sentence.
"I am going to bring my Sprocket dog, just in case." "Why are you drinking that water all of a sudden?"
Library story hours bring much entertainment.
When I brought Signa two Saturdays ago, when the librarian announced that the book was by Judy Applebee, Signa yelled, "Applebees? I LOVE APPLEBEES!" When Marc brought her last week, upon being asked what some worms turn into, Signa announced, "Mothra."

Many Stuffs
My dad had a heart attack on Friday and is in the hospital. It could have been worse, but could have also been better. He will have stents put in 2 arteries that were very blocked. They have to wait a bit so that they can give him blood thinners, though, so it will be a few days before they do this.
I imagine some lifestyle changes will need to happen, too, and this is the part I'm most worried about, actually. I think he'll get through this episode with flying colors, but if it's not a wake-up call then we'll have more of these scary times ahead. And to make it all about me, the hardest thing for me is not being able to be there with him.
Now for something else. Signa is starting to potty train (yes, I know, at 3 1/2). She went pee pee on the potty 2 times yesterday and only had 1 1/2 accidents. Sadly the 1/2 was poop. Diapers are just so much easier.. anyway, she's trying and she is proud when she goes in the potty. But I'm just really not sure if she's ready, as she can't seem to be able to tell BEFORE it happens. The two times she did it yesterday, she was already sitting there. Oh well. We will see.
She did do one funny thing (okay, several, but this is the only one I remember). We were asking her to do something and she was, apparently doing something else. She threw her arms up and then down and back and said, "I can't do two stuffs at the same time!"
I know how she feels.

Just Don't Care
A few weeks ago, I was getting Signa out of the bathtub and she said, "Daddy says he just doesn't care." It was said so matter-of-factly and made me wonder how he said it and why. When we came out, I asked him about it. He said couldn't think what she was talking about, but I wondered. At least I did until the next day when he got her out of the tub and sang, as he always does, "Put your arms in the air like you just don't care!"
Now we know.
Yesterday we went on a field trip with our home school preschool art group to the Lawrence Hall of Science. We saw the dinosaurs and a snake named Harold. All else is superfluous, as the dinosaurs that roared and moved and had babies in eggs and the real live snake that Signa got to hold were all that really mattered.
Signa has entered a talking back stage. Every single thing we say and she contradicts us. "It's raining today." "No, it's not." "I like this show." "No, you don't." "This chicken is good." "No, I don't like this chicken." "I'm excited to go to dance class tomorrow." "I'm not excited for dance class." If you then say something like, "Fine then, we won't go," she cries that she wants to go. She just is addicted to contradicting us. It's the most annoying thing ever and we flip out over it as it drives us insane. I hope this is just a stage...
Will and I had our 27 week doctor appointment on Wednesday and all is well. Nothing new or exciting which is wonderful. Now I'm on the every two week schedule. Joy of joys! I get to hear his heart beat more frequently and I LOVE that!
