This is (Not) Fun

Got home from the hospital today. Not with Baby Will, but with pneumonia instead.

Luckily, Will is totally uneffected. Every 6 hours I had a non-stress test in the hospital and every 6 hours they would pass him through the test within minutes, saying how he's just perfect.

So all is well for the baby- it's just the Momma that needs to get better!

So everyone do the keep the baby in dance with me so that he doesn't come until the end of APril. That will give me plenty of time to get better.

33 Weeks

BABY POOL IS HERE: www.mascotmanor.org/archives/2006/03/william_philip.html

-----------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I had my 33 week appointment. It was at 3:40, and by the time I got out of there, it was 4:15. Which would be fine except my appointment was actually only about 45 seconds long. The rest of the time I was sitting on the examination table wondering why there were so many advertisements around for menopause stuff. Must be big money there.

Everything is fine- blood pressure, Will's heartbeat, my measurements and weight. That was pretty much it.

Then I went downstairs to get my blood drawn for my thyroid test. They have a weird way of doing things. First you put your name on a list. Then you wait. Then you get called (an hour later) and you sit with someone who makes you sign stuff. Then you go back to the waiting room and wait again for about 15 minutes. THEN you get your blood drawn. Again, 1 hour and 15 minutes for a 30 second blood draw.

Then I went to the Admitting Office to get registered for when Will comes and to get registered for my twice weekly non-stress tests (NST). That took about 10 minutes. Then up to Labor and Delivery for the NST. They strap two disks around my belly. One measures the baby's heartbeat and one his movement. The goal is to see if his heartbeat goes up when he moves (it is supposed to). It normally takes between 20 minutes to 45 minutes to get a good read on a baby, but our baby was marked perfect within 7 minutes. Sadly, they have to keep me for at the minimum of 20 minutes. Even more sadly, they didn't come to get me for 45 minutes.

But Baby Will is a perfect little baby, so it was worth it.

William Philip Mascot's Baby Pool

William Philip Mascot's Baby Pool

Guess when he'll be born and how much he will weigh (used only in case of a tie). Only one guess per person. Winner will receive something cool. I have no idea what.
Here are some hints:

Baby Will is due May 5, but I will have a scheduled c-section sometime the week before, unless he comes earlier on his own.
Signa was five weeks early and 6 pounds, 12 ounces.

Now guess away! Post your reply in the comments section or email me and I'll post for you.

Baby William's Shower

Today some of the friends from one of our playgroups gave us a baby shower for Baby Will. It was so nice. Lana had it at her house, but I know that Rose, Kathy and Joyce all helped out. It was for all of us, so Signa and Marc got to come, too. We played games, ate a nice lunch and opened too many gifts!

The games were so cute and creative. The prizes were kids' prizes so that the kids all got one. I totally loved this idea. There were tiny pins with boy babies on them. Each one had the guests' names on the back and whoever picked William's, got a prize. That was Signa and she got fingerpaints, which she was just asking for this morning. We also played a word scramble, sculpting bubble gum into a baby (I chose the winner), drinking apple juice from a baby bottle, and then a game with poop in the diaper, where poop got you a prize. So much fun!

Signa got Big Sister Presents and Baby Will got a ton of wonderful outfits. More than I can even say! They are all so cute, too, with sizes from 0-3 to 12 months and all just very "us". He got some beautiful hand-decorated cloth diapers to use as shoulder bibs, some wipes, his first year scrapbook, along with stickers and paper to go in it, onesies and socks. Marc got a book to read to Baby William and Signa got a ton of stuff: a BC Builder dinosaur, playdoh, a Dora coloring sheet, hat and gloves, a Build-a-Bear, and Dora paper doll magnets. I'm probably missing things, but it was just amazing. Signa feels so special and yet she knows that Baby William is special, too.

The cake was a riot, too! A Darth Vader cake with the words, "Welcome Sithlest Jedi" (something like that- I don't have the pictures downloaded from my camera yet). So hilarious and original!

It was so nice of them to do for us. I know you aren't supposed to get a shower for your second baby, but it made us feel special and now I can put shower stuff in Baby Will's scrapbook and he'll know that he's already special, too. Also, it's really neat to get the little boy outfits. It even inspired me to come home and go through Signa's clothes. It wasn't so hard to get rid of 3 boxes of her 0-6 month things, knowing that I had some really cute 0-3 month things of Will's to replace them with!

Speaking of Signa's things, I was hoping to give them to someone I know... ANYONE I know, but everyone is either having boys or they already have a girl at home and have their own clothes to sort through. So I may Ebay some of the stuff and then donate the rest. We'll see.

Good Friends and McDonald's

Marc took Signa to the zoo on Wednesday and in the morning when she got up she told me, "I'm going to the zoo to see my good friend otter. I will throw balls to him and he will throw them back to me. Because I'm his good friend." Marc and I laughed and then had to tell her there were no otters at our zoo. But alas, she was right. We'd forgotten the new addition. Clearly she hadn't, since they were all "good friends".

Another thing that Marc told me that made me spit root beer out of my nose (Baby Will LOVES root beer...). Signa was sitting Indian-style yesterday and looked down and announced: "Hey! My legs are making McDonald's!"

We went to the first of four of these music and movement classes that our city puts on. It was only $30 for all four classes and I though it would be something fun. And it was! They sing all the usual songs and do the hand movements, etc. But sadly, Signa was overwhelmed with joy at the kids and ended up mostly just trying to hug the girl next to her endlessly and then when it was dance time, she just bossed everyone around and didn't do her part.

She always gets like this with kids. It's like she's sooooo happy to be around them that she wants to squish them all up in her pockets and take them all home with her. It's so sad because unless it's someone as enthusiastic as her, they shy away from her and she's left alone. We thought getting her around groups of kids more would help, but she is in a Tuesday playgroup, Thursday art group, Saturday dance class and now this. And she still tries to over love all the kids.

I dreamed about Baby Will all night long the other night. He was so beautiful in my dream (I am sure he will be in real life, too) and the dreams made me realize that I'M GOING TO HAVE A BABY! A real live baby to love and wonder over just like I now have a little girl to love and wonder over. After "seeing" him (even if it was a dream), I'm more excited than ever to meet him and hold him and kiss him and love him.

Baby Will

When Signa was in my belly, she was already SIGNA. I just didn't know it. All the swift kicks and big humungous squirms when children or just their voices were around. All of it was Signa, but I was just too busy noticing to notice.

Now that Will is in there, I am trying to really pay attention to the personality he's exhibiting. He's a lot different from Signa and I don't mean that I've been sick so much. But he's just softer. He flutters around strongly instead of stomping around. Loud noises would wake Signa up in there, but Will just spasms and stays quiet and I think scared until I soothe him with patting and talking. He rolls and doesn't jump (unless there is a loud noise). He rolls more than Signa kicked, but he's just gentler. And my gut tells me that he's a gentle little boy. Not sure if this will pan out to be true, but if not, at least I have it written down to laugh at later.

Silly Signa

Ramone's T-Shirt: Signa wore her Ramone's t-shirt the other day and asked of Marc, "Does this mean I'm on the Ramone's team?"

Carrots: At dinner, "Carrots are good for your eyes. And when you dry them in the sun, they become raisins!"

Pen for her LeapPad: Signa has a LeapPad that is called Little Touch and does not use a pen, like the others in the store. Last night, she really really wanted a pen for it and asked me to buy her one at the store. I tried to explain that hers didn't need a pen, just fingers, but she had a good reason. "But Momma, they are buy-1-get-1 free!"

Frustration Lessons: I was helping Signa with her computer game and, to put it bluntly, it was pissing me off. I was getting frustrated with it and Signa helped out. "The first thing you have to do, Momma, is calm down. Take a deep breath and be patient and slow."

I have a whole lot to write about Baby Will, but that will have to wait, as we are off to see Gramma.
