Walkin'

I've so much to write about because I haven't been writing lately. I hope I can remember it all. I took some notes, but some I just don't remember and I know poor Will doesn't have near as many notes as Signa did by now. One reason is that I'm just more busy at work. Anyway, here are some highlights:

Tea Party
A few weeks ago, I left work early and went home to get Signa. She got all dressed up in her Easter dress and we went to August Tea Room. We had fancy tea sandwiches and cookies and fancy tea. It was so much fun! Signa was so polite and so sweet. They loved her and we had such a great couple hours out. The cutest part was that she was all fancy and sweet and she had a matching little purse with sequins and pearls all over it.

Inside? A rubber lizard.

Walking
Will is now this close to walking. He can take a couple steps before falling. And his little face shows such pride in what he's doing. Like he knows it puts him into a whole new arena of cuteness.

Will
Speaking of Will, I was looking at him in the sun yesterday and his hair is RED. Well, not RED red, but I've heard people speaking of "spun gold" before and when I looked at his little head in the sun yesterday, that is exactly what spun gold should look like. With his spun gold hair, big blue eyes and beautiful face, he should be a girl. But he likes GI Joe and Action Jackson too much. Although Marc did say that he gets particularly excited in the Barbie aisle at ToysRUs…

Anyway, he seems wiser than I remember Signa being at 11 months. He already is sneaky and using his smarts. He was going for the shoes last night and I warned him not to. He grabbed one anyway (like he always does) and when I scolded him and got up to take it away, he held it out to me and grinned, as if to say, "Oh, here Momma. I was just getting it for you." So freaking cute.

Signa's Dreams
Not to be outdone in the cute department, Signa has been recalling her dreams lately. "Last night I dreamed that everyone was at our house. Like Uncle Bobby and Uncle Scott and other people we don't know and other people we do know. And I had a Little Sarah from Little Foot. That's a movie with dinosaurs. It was so weird to have that Little Sarah! And the other night I dreamed that I met a boy at the hotel and he had a radio-controlled Mothra that shot Silly String out of his mouth and we were playing with it. Daddy had one when he was a little boy [he didn't…], but he sold it on Ebay. We HAVE to get another one because I don't have one to play with and it was so fun in my dream!"

Mom's Birthday
Mom turned 60 last Sunday and so Todd and I threw her a surprise party. It was so fun to shock her like that. It was really nice and fun- small and intimate just as I knew she'd want it. She had a great time visiting with her high school friends and my aunts and her other friends that she sees. Pulling it off was another story though… Todd and I set it up to take her to lunch and at the last minute I called to say I was throwing up. Then when Todd took her to lunch, Auntie Leslie and I went into her house and decorated and set up the food and cake and let the people in. He brought her home and… SURPRISE! Was a lot of fun and I was so happy to do something special for her big day. Especially since she thought I was cancelling even seeing her!!!

Bed

Friday night, Signa decided that she wanted to sleep in her bed. Note that she's slept with us until Will came and then she has slept with Will and me- Marc can't fit, so he either sleeps in Signa's unused bed or just falls asleep on the sofa. Well, suddenly, Signa was ready to sleep in her bed, "until Daddy comes to bed." She stayed there all night.

Then Saturday night, she didn't want anything to do with her bed. She came to bed with Will and me like always and in the middle of the night, she said she wanted to sleep with Daddy. She grabbed her pillow and her rabbit and shuffled to her room. I thought Marc was getting her settled, as the light went on and then I heard things and then the light went off. In the morning, I found out that Marc had fallen asleep on the sofa and wasn't even in there. Poor brave girl went into a dark room and tucked herself in.

Last night she just went straight into her own bed and stayed there all night. I think Marc can have his side of the bed back.

Sniff. My baby girl is growing up all on her own.

Wonder(ful) Con?

All is well here in the House of Plague. We seem to all (knock wood) be better (knock wood). Abuteral Boy (aka William) is still a bit "moist" but I think that's just how he is. Coughing would take too much precious time out of his moment and might distract him from whatever Dangerous Thing lay nearby, so he foregoes that and just wheezes. After a cough or cry, though, he's breathing just fine during his crawling everywhere, pulling himself up to stand, and smiling incessantly (except to cry when you move Dangerous Thing out of his reach).

Last Saturday we all joined Marc at the Wondercon. Wow. I can't even describe it. Rows and rows of things that I have absolutely no interest in. Signa, however, adored all of it. She actually twice pulled so hard on Marc's hand to go see something that she actually slid parallel to the floor. One was some guy dressed as some weird character from some weird video game or something. And one was the poster for The Hills Have Eyes 2, which is dark, scary and we have no idea why she loved it so much. The Hills Have Eyes people (those at the booth) thought it was so funny that they took a picture of her holding the sign. She is their youngest fan.

While they looked at the booths, Will and I just walked around people-watching and getting some exercise. They had chairs out in front of the restrooms and a large place to stand. It seemed to be the place where people congregated in costumes and other people would come take their pictures with them. Will and I sat there watching costumed men and women go in and out of the bathrooms. Somehow, watching The Emperor take off his cloak to go pee just cracks me up.

And I am now proud to say that I've breastfed in front of Jack Sparrow, a Street Fighter guy, Luke Skywalker, and Alice in Wonderland. All at the same time.

This week, we actually have some WILL-ISMS! WOO HOO! His very first WILL-ISMS...
* Happy Cries. Watching the video for Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles makes him so happy that he cries.
* Toys. Marc knows that I think (know) we have too many toys, so he either sneaks them in or over-justifies why This One Is Special. He got Will a Glow Worm and I raised my eyebrows. He told me to watch Will before I decided to save it for his birthday. One look at Will's over-joyousness at having that thing in our house was enough to make me try to bite off the damn 8 katrillion plastic things holding the worm in the box.

And now, never ever forgotten Signa. Here are her Signa-isms:
* Birds and Kidnapping. Signa's been watching videos from the library about stranger safety. She said this the other day: "Birds are afraid of cats, because cart get in their personal space." Can't really argue with that.
* Freaky. Regarding her new Star Wars Lego Game for the Playstation: "That's giving me an idea that I forgot to tell you! Darth Vader is not in my game! It freaked me out!"
* Wonderful Magical Animal. At dinner: "What is this kind of chicken?" Marc answered that it was garlic lime chicken. With a toss of the hands in a "you are irritating me" sort of way, Signa answered, "No, I mean is it pig or cow?"
