Just an Update (with Signa-isms)

Going backward in time to before Will's birthday, we took a quick trip to Oregon. We left early Saturday morning and got there late afternoon. We had a great dinner at an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet and just relaxed in the hotel with Grampa and Grandma Molly. We decided that Sunday we'd go to the Ashland children's science museum and so Sunday morning they came to the hotel and off we went. We saw so many cool things- I'm not sure who liked it all more, Signa or me! I could live at a science museum and never ever get bored.

Anyway, even though it was quick, it was a ton of fun and I was so happy to see Dad and Molly. Dad was tired, but good and we had such a nice visit. I can't wait to go back for longer and show Will the mountain. He'll LOVE all the cats and birds and Dinga.

We left for home super early Monday morning so that we could get the rental car back and then I worked for three days and on Friday Mom and I left for Jackson for a three-day weekend of scrapbooking. I got a ton done, but still have tons more to do. I also caught another doozy of a cold just before Jackson that is still killing me. Will got it, too, and was feverish and miserable the whole time I was gone.

We had Will's 1-year doctor appointment on that Monday after Jackson and he was too miserably sick for shots or much else. The doctor was concerned at his height and weight, saying he hasn't grown much since his last appointment, which is concerning. When they do the shots and iron check, they'll weigh and measure him again and we'll see if we really need to be concerned. I just think he hasn't had a growth spurt quite yet.

Speaking of Will's first birthday, we had his party yesterday and everyone had a good time, I think. Mickey Mouse was the theme and we did ice cream sundaes. Will was in good spirits throughout. He got a bunch of wonderful gifts and we are so thankful for everyone who came! Cousin Phil and Uncle Karl and Aunt Dee came and Auntie Leslie and Auntie Karen. Cousins Danny, Rebecca, Melanie, Jeff, Ryan, Andrew were there and then friends Bob, Scott, Monty, Alison and their 3 children. It was a full house; that's for sure! Cathy made the wonderful cake. I was stunned, as it was honestly the coolest cake I've ever seen. Will wasn't so into the cake, but he finally used it as an armrest and realized it tasted pretty good!

Today we are off to the grocery store, the pet store (just for fun) and a jewelry party. We are still recovering from yesterday!

Signa-isms:
Art. "Guess who I'm drawing? Angry Dad!" And he did look a bit angry…
Backyard. While playing with Will: "No poking! If you do it one more time, I'm going to put you in the backyard." (note to Child Protective Services: We have NEVER EVER done this, so we've no idea how she got the idea).

Pacing. When Signa has to pee, she paces and walks and acts weird for awhile. We ask if she has to go potty, but she always says no for awhile before deciding yes. One day in the store, she had The Walk and Marc asked her if she had to go. She said, "No! This is also my thinking walk."

Alien Face Hugger. Marc has a book with drawings from the Alien movies. There is a drawing of some of the concept sketches that looks like a bloody turkey. Signa was playing in the tub and asked Marc if he'd get her the bloody turkey alien face hugger toy because she really wanted to play with it. What kind of kid wants to play with toys that look like bloody turkeys?!??! My kind of kid!

Fever. While sick during the time-before-last hideous crud, Signa announced, "I have a fever so I need a hot dog."

Crust. I was rubbing my eyes this morning and said that my eyes feel crusty. She asked what that meant and I responded without really responding, "Crusty. You know, just crusty." "Like croutons?" she said. Yeah, kinda like croutons.

I am hereby officially replacing the term "eye boogers" with "eye croutons." Brilliant Signa.
