Happy Birthday!
Dear Honey Bunches of Oats,
I cannot for the life of me believe that it's been a half of a decade since you were pulled from my womb. You are the very second best thing that has every happened to me. I can say that because Daddy is the best (without him I wouldn't have you) and Will is third, as without you, we wouldn't have him.
You amaze me everyday with how you can light up the world with your big smile. How you can be so smart and so innocent all at the same time. How you can wonder at such complex things and bring them to simplicity. You are an amazing little girl.
You are now learning the traditional things like reading, writing and arithmetic, but I am happy that you won't forget the importing things like joy and glee and wonderment at the world. You take care of things; you nurture things; and you cherish things. But my favorite part of you is how you get excited over everything and never stop smiling. I never, ever want you to lose that.
It's so fun to watch how your brother watches you- as if you are the be-all end-all of everything. He thinks you rule the world. I somehow can't argue with that too much. Someday you will grow up and roll your eyes at me when I tell you how wonderful and amazing and delightful you are. But for now, I just love how you nod and agree with me, like I'm just telling you that the sky is blue.
My beautiful baby girl who grew up, the sky is blue and you are you. And I would not have it any other way.
Love,
Momma

To get you to September...
Oregon:
I took a trip to Oregon in August. It was just Will and me and we had a terrific time! It was a quick short trip, but we spent some great quality time with Grampa and Gramma Molly. It was weird being just the two of us for that long. I really enjoyed my time with the little man; I think we'll do that again soon! It was really nice being able to stay on the mountain and spend so much time with them. Will was very taken with playing peek-a-boo across the table with Grampa. And he really, really loved the cats and Dinga!
Signa:
Tomorrow she turns (gulp) five. I will work on her birthday letter later, but Oh My God. Five. She is doing great. We started school the day after Labor Day (as school should start) and she is now really trying hard with her writing and she is studying nomads and ancient Egypt.
Will:
He's doing fantastic. So smart and so expressive. He amazes us with the things he already knows and understands.
Well, that's it for the update, I think. I'll try to just stay current but we all know how that goes...

Bad Momma
Poor Will has nothing documented in his journal for most of July and all of August and now half of September. I have scribbly notes all over, but no time to update. I will... one day soon! Sorry boo boo!
