Santa and Maggots

We visited Santa and Signa had the same nervous smile as last year. And while Will loves yelling, "TANTA!!!" at all Santa-like images, he was unimpressed on the big guy's lap. Then we had family pictures taken, which came out pretty good.

In other news, have I mentioned how whenever one of the cats walks by, Will yells, "KITTY!!!" (sounds more like, "KEY!!!) and then shakes his finger at the cat and says, "NO NO NO!" I guess we yell at the cats a lot… Then one day, Signa pushed Will off a horse we have and Will yelled at her in his very own language and did the finger pointing thing. Already sticking up for him self. Love it.

Signa and I had a fun conversation a month or so ago. Actually, it was two conversations, but I was (thankfully) smart enough to tie them together. We were driving to Wal-Mart and Target before going to a fancy tea party momma-Signa date. Signa says, "Did you know that maggots eat garbage and dead things? And they look like worms, but they aren't worms they are fly larvae. And they eat garbage and dead things!" On and on about maggots. "And even though someday they are flies, when they are babies, they are so cute!"

We went to Wal-Mart and Target and then on the way to tea, she says, (and here is where it was poignant of me to recognize that even though something was talked about over an hour ago, it now ties in), "Momma, can I get my very own garbage can?"

So I had to veto pet maggots and then also tell her that when we are at fancy tea, it wouldn't be a good idea to continue talk of maggots. So now she knows: maggot talk is like poop talk- we don't do it around food.

The things you learn as a parent...
